National Funeral Exhibition 2024

National Funeral Exhibition 2024

As an Independent Family-Owned Funeral Directors Company who have been serving local families for over 160 years, we constantly adapt and develop our services whilst retaining the knowledge and compassion that comes with experience built over many years to best support bereaved families.

The Exhibition gave us an excellent opportunity to look at how we can enhance and progress our services and skills and to learn about the latest innovative products and leadership from experts within the industry.

One of the top three funeral trade shows in the world, the National Funeral Exhibition provides those in the funeral industry with an opportunity to meet, innovate, buy, sell, and see which direction the industry is heading in a vibrant and future-focused environment. Many new products are launched at the show, so there is always something novel and exciting to see and learn.

The Exhibition runs over three days and attracts thousands of trade visitors and professionals from across the world, experts from within the sector, and more than 200 exhibitors. It also features a packed agenda of thought-provoking and inspiring seminars from industry leaders to engage and educate.

And if that wasn’t enough, the event also provides a great opportunity for networking amongst the 4,500 funeral sector professionals who attend!

Held every two years, we thought it was time we attended this highly regarded, must-visit industry event and it did not disappoint!

A few team members from across Alcock’s and Hill’s attended, including Debbie from Admin, Scott, our Embalmer, our Apprentice Freddie and Jimmy, one of our Funeral Directors. They all went along to ensure we had a well-rounded experience at the event.

None of the team had been before, and they were all immediately struck by the sheer scale of the exhibition and the number and variety of exhibitors on display.

There is so much more to the funeral industry than you can imagine! From personalised cuddle cushions, to live butterfly releases, to crystal memorials, to hearing aid and implant recycling, to tandem bicycle hearses, to scattering ashes into space, to handmade ceramic flowers for gravesides, to therapeutic interactive bereavement books for children and teens, to probate genealogists, to personalised coffin engraving, to procession plumes, to water cremation, to tree urns, to seed paper order of services…the array of different options available to families today is incredible.

“I enjoyed being able to meet many of the partner suppliers and providers we work with regularly but don’t often get the opportunity to meet in person, including the teams from Much Loved, Oak Technologies, Allsops, and Nick from Memory Box Flowers.” Debbie

“I was impressed with the huge variety of funeral cars, in particular the range of hearses available, including the Black Cab, the only original Lambretta in the UK, the VW Campervan, the Land Rover, and the Morris Minor!” Scott, a car enthusiast in his free time!

“I thoroughly enjoyed the National Funeral Exhibition; it widened my knowledge of the ever-expanding options and possibilities within the funeral sector. I would recommend a visit to the Exhibition; it demonstrates how far the UK has progressed culturally over recent years, as we have become more comfortable with the idea of a funeral celebrating a loved one’s life, not just a goodbye. The highlights for me were the lectures on all areas of the funeral business and the amazing vehicles now available for families, everything from a Lambretta hearse to an articulated lorry!” Jimmy

“It was great to be amongst so many professionals in the field and to see the variety of businesses that form the funeral sector- being relatively new to the industry, I just had no idea the range of options available to families!” Freddie

It was a jam-packed day of dynamic debates, live demos, engaging seminars, friendly introductions, unique viewings, personal touches, ideas, and plenty of creativity!

The exhibition provides a one-stop shop for all things funeral-related – for those already working in the funeral profession and those interested in learning more about the sector. Showcasing vehicle fleets, coffins, caskets, professional equipment suppliers, printing and stationery companies, online memorial services, charities and every possible related funeral business- someone was there to answer your questions, give you the best advice, and the latest industry insights.

As one of the leading global shows for the profession, we were delighted to have had the opportunity to attend this year. The whole team got something from it; they came back full of motivation, with lots of ideas and inspiration…as well as fairly exhausted!

Having supported thousands of families for over 160 years, Jonathan Alcock and Sons prides itself on its longevity and ability to adapt and improve its services and facilities to ensure local families remain at the forefront of everything we do. Attending industry-focused events like this one, regular training, keeping up-to-date with industry regulations and being a member of the NAFD is a top priority to us as a business.

We are now excited for the team who attended to share all they have learnt with the broader team, so we put it into practice.

It was a brilliant day, and Debbie, Scott, Freddie and Jimmy were all so impressed. A huge thanks and well done must go to the National Association of Funeral Directors, whose hard work delivered such an incredible event. They all said they would thoroughly recommend it. And the goody bag was a nice bonus!
